Ted Van Dyk, AIA Principal Ted founded New City Design Group in 1996. He holds a B.A. in history from Duke University, a M.PD in Industrial Design from NC State University, and a M.Arch from the University of Washington. Ted is currently serving as a member of the Wake County Planning Board, The Alexander YMCA Advisory Board, and The Hillsborough Street Business Improvement District Board. When not working with the talented team at New City, Ted enjoys traveling with Pam, his wife of 29 years, cycling with friends, playing music, and oil painting. ted@newcitydesign.com
Corey Bates, AIA, LEED AP Principal Corey has over 29 years of experience in the architecture and construction industries. In 1996, after gaining extensive professional experience in both Portland, Oregon and Raleigh, North Carolina, he joined the new startup firm of New City Design Group. Corey has focused on a vast range of project types including: residential, retail, restaurant, renovation, mixed-use, institutional and corporate headquarters projects. Current service opportunities include: The City of Raleigh Appearance Commission, COTA Music Ministry and other various non-profit construction committees. In his spare time, Corey’s interests include: family, music, coaching, travel, cycling and anything outdoors. corey@newcitydesign.com
Jeffrey Rezeli, AIA, LEED AP Principal Jeff is a two-time graduate of NC State University with over 22 years of practice in the profession, spending the last 11 years as an integral team member at New City Design. He serves a broad balance of public and private clients including NC State University, the Town of Cary, Learning Services and Rivercrest Realty. Shannon Laska Associate One of the longest tenured members of the team, Shannon has a background in architecture at Penn State and a professional concentration in Interior Design. She's had a hand in creating and influencing New City's iconic designs since joining the firm in 2003. Shannon serves as a mentor to students at Meredith College and has her hands full on the home front keeping her two young boys (and husband Jim) out of trouble. shannon@newcitydesign.com
Adam Harker, AIA Associate Adam received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Virginia Commonwealth in 2005 and a Master of Architecture degree from NC State University in 2010. As part of the New City Design team for over seven years, Adam has gained experience working on a variety of projects for Duke University, Hibernia Entertainment, Chatham Street Commercial and Ammons Building Corporation. When he's not working on his own home renovation projects, Adam enjoys building furniture and tinkering on his classic truck. adam@newcitydesign.com
Marilyn Bohnaker Business Manager Marilyn came to work for New City in 2008 after spending more than two decades in the Information Technology industry for a major brokerage firm, first as a Programmer to subsequently an IT Group Manager. Marilyn’s undergraduate studies began at Ocean County College in Toms River, NJ and moved to Rudgers University in New Brunswick, NJ, where she majored in Computer Science and minored in Accounting. Wayne Sidle, AIA Project Architect Wayne graduated with his Masters of Architecture from Wentworth Institute of Technology in Boston, MA in 2010. In addition to over a decade of construction experience, he brings his knowledge across retail, site development, industrial/warehouse and office space from the New England design and construction market. After relocating to Raleigh and joining the New City team over 2 years ago, he's had the privilege to work on various projects for Crabtree Valley Mall, private office clients, and a wide variety of tenant fit ups. Stephanie Rubendall Project Designer Stephanie is a graduate of High Point University with a degree in Interior Design. Since joining our team four years ago, she has utilized her passion for design, color, and interiors to influence a broad variety of projects. Stephanie has been instrumental in her role on various Duke University projects. Her renderings and interiors have informed Sazón, Red Mango, and Beyù Blue, as well as other notable projects. Ryan Whitley Project Designer Ryan has worked on numerous projects during his nearly three years with New City. Far and away the greatest challenge, and one that he met with determination and aplomb, has been Morgan Street Food Hall, with its 24 separate vendors. The Food Hall’s success is in large measure thanks to Ryan’s tenacity and hard work. With a 2015 Bachelor of Architecture degree from NC State, Ryan worked for a geotechnical engineering firm while in school. He has a passion for collaborative and sustainable design and a strong interest and skill set in 3D modeling and graphic representation. ryan@newcitydesign.com
Peter Wentz Project Designer Peter graduated from NC State in 2011 with a Master of Architecture degree, and worked at several local firms prior to joining New City in 2016. Peter has served as project designer on numerous Duke University projects over the past couple of years. The success of several new dining venues, including Sazón, Red Mango, and Beyù Blue, have been due largely to his methodical, careful work. Peter has also served as project designer on the new Student Center building currently under development at Duke's Marine Sciences Lab. Ashley Eubanks Project Designer Ashley recently graduated with an Interior Architecture degree from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. Interior Design is not just a career for her, it's a passion. Ashley works on a variety of projects and is inspired by her travels and the idea of making people happier and healthier through design. Ashley loves meeting interesting and eclectic people, and enjoys the variety of experiences a design career provides.
