Ted Van Dyk, Principal, AIA has 24 years of experience in the practice of architecture and planning and founded New City Design Group in 1996 after extensive professional experience in both Raleigh and Seattle. Mr. Van Dyk’s vision for New City is to nurture a well trained, close knit team of talented designers, who can bring their talents to bear on a diverse range of project types.

Corey L. Bates, Principal, AIA, LEED® AP brings over 23 years of project management, design and production experience to the New City Team. His well rounded experience stems from his early work on large project types such as: schools, cultural art facilities and semi-conductor plants, where large drawing sets and coordination efforts were key to the successful project outcome.

Jeffrey Rezeli, AIA, LEED® AP, Associate Principal - Jeff has over 15 years of well rounded experience in design, project and firm management working on complex and large scale building types with a concentration in higher education, healthcare and civic architecture throughout North Carolina. His work is rooted in a strong recognition of the importance of local and regional context and includes design and management of several large scale ($20-30 million) projects, precinct and campus master plans and a position leading the design efforts for a 30 person firm.

Jonathan A. Wright - AIA, Associate Principal - Jon has over 13 years of experience in design, project and firm management working on diverse project types including hospitality, corporate, retail, and residential. He is driven and motivated by the context of place and the dialog of texture and light in the definition of space. Jon received his BS in Construction Engineering and Management from NC State University, Raleigh, NC and Master of Architecture from Arizona State University, Tempe, AZ. He has been with New City since 1998.

Shannon Kowalski Laska, Project Designer - Graduated from Pennsylvania State University in May 2002. As an intern architect at Maclachlan, Cornelius, and Filoni, she focused on performing arts centers and university design. After moving to NC, she continued her internship with The Roberts Group. She is currently working towards receiving her Architectural License. She has been with New City since July 2003.

Darrell L. Mayer, Project Manager - Joined New City Design in May 2003 as a Project Designer. His previous work experience was with The Sear-Brown Group in Rochester NY 99’-2001. Currently a Project Manager for New City Design and is also a veteran, having served with the N.C. Army National Guard in Operation Iraqi Freedom II. Educational experience: In 1999 he received a BPS in Architecture at the State University of N.Y. at Buffalo and in 2003 he received His Masters of Architecture in Urban Design at North Carolina State University.

Tina DiGiampetro, Project Designer - completed her BS in Interior Architecture at the University of North Carolina Greensboro (2010). Tina completed 2 years of study at Boston Architectural College's Masters Program for Interior Design, concurrently working full-time as an architectural intern at Tappé Associates in Boston ('05–'07). After relocating to North Carolina in August of 2007, she completed her degree while working as a Project Designer at New City Design Group. Tina has been part of the New City Design Group Team since 2007 and is currently studying to pass the NCIDQ exams to become certified in Interior Design.

Adam Harker, Project Designer, Associate AIA - Received his Master of Architecture degree from NC State University in December 2010. Before moving to Raleigh in 2006, he received a BFA in Interior Design from Virginia Commonwealth University. Adam has worked for various design firms in both Virginia and North Carolina, gaining experience in a variety of project types including commercial, residential, hospitality and retail.

Marilyn Bohnaker, Business Manager - Brings to New City Design 20 years of project management experience in the construction industry with a focus on the financial aspects of each project. Her passions include architecture, interior design, golf and her four dogs.
